Jammu court on Tuesday ordered the police to register an FIR against the Special Investigation Team (SIT) which probed the Kathua rape and murder case.

City Judge, Jammu, Prem Sagar today directed the SSP Jammu to register FIR against Crime Branch’s former SSP R K Jalla, addl SP  Peerzada Naveed, DySPs Shetambari Sharma and Nasir Hussain along with irfan Wani and Kewal Kishore for allegedly torturing some people to make a statement implicating Vishal Jangotra into the rape and murder case of Bakarwal girl in Rasana last year. Vishal was acquitted by sessions court Pathankot early this year, while his father Sanji Ram was among seven people including four policemen convicted in the matter.

Advocate Ankur Sharma, who is representing the accused in this case, said that the court examined all the evidence provided by him before the court and then ordered the police to register an FIR against all the officers of the SIT.

The court has ordered the Jammu SSP to register the FIR by November 7, 2019.
